What Happens After Nose Surgery?

Once you are done with your nose surgery, you will likely experience some mild or moderate pain and discomfort regarding your surgery. But you can consume medications under Nose Surgery After Care (หลัง เสริม จมูก, which is the term in Thai). To control the pain, you need to finish Tylenol with codeine. The pain and discomfort are likely to decrease after 72 hours of your surgery. However, you should connect with your doctor if you have a lot of pain even after 72 hours. Ideally, swelling or bruising is quite common to appear after surgery. The symptoms are pretty worse on the second day of your surgery, and after that, they will come to normal. The number of symptoms is likely to vary from person to person. The majority of the swelling happens around the eyes, but bruising occurs around the cheeks.

You can also expect some nasal discharge after the nose surgery. Under the Nose Surgery After Care (การ ดูแล หลัง ทํา จมูก, term in that), a small gauze is likely to be placed under your nose post-surgery. The gauze needs to be changed at least 10 to 20 times during the first 48 hours. Once the surgery is complete, a small tape is likely to be placed on your nose besides the plastic nasal dressing, which will be put on the exteriors of your nose. The external surgery isn’t vital if you have undergone septoplasty or nasal tip surgery.  One of the most annoying problems you will ever have after nose surgery is nasal stuffiness. It is pretty distressful, especially after the first week of your surgery, and significantly it improves once your nasal splints are removed in no time. If there is any excess stuffiness, then it can be improved gradually over some weeks.

After surgery, excess mucus is also present in your throat after surgery. It is mainly because there are splints present in your nose that temporarily stimulate your nose to produce a lot of mucus. It will be back to normal in just 5 to 7 days post-surgery, so you don’t need to stress at all.  Above all, you should be aware of the swelling that is likely to appear after surgery, and it would make your nose appear broader and make your tip more turned up and less refined than what is desirable.
