The tourism industry has sustained significant damage with the borders, and travel spots have been closed to contain the virus. Airlines and other transportation companies are forced to lay off employees. At the same time, some agencies halted their operations, with some unable to withstand the adverse economic effects, leading to a complete closure of the business.
But progression in the containment efforts allowed several economies to ease up their regulations, allowing essential and limited leisure travel once again. Antigen test for travel has become a requirement to ensure that the people are not infected. Travellers are expected to present their travel covid test results and will not allow them to board if they can’t.
Tests have become a vital part of health measures implemented worldwide as it helps experts in plenty of ways. It can improve the scalability of the guidelines by the authorities, but it will also give health practitioners an understanding of the nature of the virus.
Apart from the usual rapid antigen and PCR tests, serology tests are used to detect if an individual is infected by COVID or not. The main goal of this test is to determine if a person was able to develop antibodies that are beneficial in fighting antigens like viruses.
This test, however, is only available for certain groups of people. For example, in the UK, the people who want to register must be taking part in either of the following:
- National Cancer COVID-19 survey;
- Sarscov2 Immunity & Reinfection Evaluation (SIREN) study; or
- Office for National Statistics (ONS) COVID-19 infection survey.
The result of serology tests can be positive, negative, or void. Positive results mean that the body was able to produce antibodies for COVID-19. Although they can still be infected, having the antibodies implies that they have protection against severe symptoms. Meanwhile, a negative result means that the test could not detect antibodies in the body, while a void means that the test did not work, either because of an insufficient amount of blood samples or a problem in the test kit.
