Things you didn’t Know about PTSD

You may have heard of PTSD clinical trials and read about this issue, but do you really know everything about it? What if we say there are still a lot of things you have no idea about, when it comes to PTSD?

We are here to put some light on this topic, but before we do that, it is important for you to know what PTSD stands for. PTSD stands for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and it is noticed in people who have been through some sort of a trauma. Either some things keep triggering their past, where they went through the trauma, or their future doesn’t seem to be the way it should.

Here are a few things we bet you didn’t know about PTSD:

  • People with PTSD often go through the same trauma over and over again in their heads. They keep imagining the things that happened when they went through the trauma and were pushed into the dilemma. For an instance, if a specific person met through an accident, he keeps thinking about the entire scene repeatedly in his head. It affects him to such an extent that he starts reliving the whole thing all the time.
  • People with PTSD often have nightmares related to the trauma they have been through. Let’s take the example of the accident again, here. The person meets through an accident often in his dreams and wakes up shivering or panicking.
  • People with PTSD spend half of their day thinking about what all things they could do in order to avoid the trauma they have been through. Let’s say there was someone else who died in the accident with this person with PTSD. The patient often thinks about the things he could do to not cause the accident and save the life of the person.
