FAQs ABOUT ULTHERAPY

The only approved cosmetic ultrasound procedure, Ultherapy Toronto or Ulthera is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure which is used in lifting skin on the face, neck, chin and brow. In the treatment focused heat is used through the ultrasound imaging to lift and tighten loose skin. The heat is directed towards the targeted tissues under the surface of the skin which allows the stimulation of the body’s natural production of collagen. If you have been planning to undergo this procedure, then we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions for you.

How long does the procedure last?

The length of the procedure depends on the number of areas that you are getting treated. It may vary from 30 minutes to 120 minutes, depending on the case.

What does the procedure feel like?

During the procedure, you will feel minimal comfort and a feeling which has been described as intense warmth alongside a tingling feeling. During the procedure, the flat surface of the applicator will move over each region and deliver energy sound waves deep into the layer of the skin and soft tissues while the upper layers of the skin remain untouched from controlled damage.

What happens after the procedure?

You may notice some minor swelling or redness of the skin shortly after the procedure, but this won’t last longer than a week. However, on rare occasions in case you are on blood-thinning medication, bruising might occur. It is recommended to wear sunblock when stepping out into direct sunlight, especially after the procedure.

When will you start seeing the results?

90 odd days after the procedure your skin will show more of a smooth texture than it did before as it has become tighter and lifted with less sagging skin. It takes up to 3 months as it takes time for the collagen to remodel and develop.

What are its benefits?

Ulthera treatment helps to retain your youthful appearance while slowing down the signs of ageing. It improves your skin tone and elasticity while lifting your sagging skin. The underlying muscles will be tightened with the help of ultrasound technology.

How to maintain the results?

Once you’ve undergone the procedure, in order to maintain its results it is recommended that you get a touch up done at least once a year. As it is a non-surgical procedure, the results of ageing don’t stop. Touch up is usually ideal depending upon how much skin laxity there is in your face and neck area.

What are the possible risks?

There is a slight possibility that you might experience redness 24 hours or so after the procedure. Slight tingling, tenderness and swelling might also take place but they are all minor and temporary. You will be given detailed post-procedure guidelines to follow which will help in aiding the healing process.
